Rodigan’s World, Winter 2013

With our first ever Ram Jam Christmas party fast approaching I look back on 2013 and get instant recall on the most amazing vibes at Ram Jam gatherings in festivals and venues across the UK and some great home grown reggae music too…most notably the summer anthems from Shy FX feat Liam Bailey with a’Soon Come’ and Stylo G’s crossover pop chart success ‘Soundboy and ‘Badd’ . And how could anyone forget the performance given by Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley for our Ram Jam at the Red Bull Music Academy, Notting Hill Carnival.

It has also been my first year broadcasting on BBC 1Xtra and you can imagine how much I have enjoyed that, plus my first ever show on BBC Radio 1 as a guest of Zane Lowe and a live set transmission from the BBC Stage at Glastonbury, plus my summer season of rock steady and reggae on BBC Radio 2. Thank you for all the love and positive responses from listeners tuned in from all over the globe…. thanks to the BBC Radio I-player app and on line internet coverage. Reggae is a universal music which does not get lost in translation.

Have a fabulous Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.

David Rodigan
